Tax Through the Bottom of a Glass
Fri 24 May 2013

Join us in Hobart for The Tax Institute's inaugural Tax through the Bottom of a Glass Convention. We have invited 15 of Australia's leading tax professionals to deliver practical advice to help you reduce and deal with a number of tax related unknowns that your clients may encounter as their businesses grow and they start to conquer new worlds.
Why you should attend
You have worked hard to attract and retain your most entrepreneurial clients who are pioneering new products or new markets. Now, as their businesses grow, they are taking you with them into unchartered waters where you will encounter various taxation issues and opportunities of which your clients may not yet be aware. In fact, many taxation issues that might have been perceived as only for the "big end of town" can be highly relevant to small and medium, and even micro enterprises in any industry.
Working with your clients to discover and deal with their 'unknown unknowns' will both challenge and reward you.
The setting
The alcohol industry is a perfect environment in which to look for tax unknowns that may impact on enterprises of any size. The industry may still be dominated by a few giant corporations, but at the same time there is a consumer movement back to wine from small wineries, craft beers and spirits, and renewed interest in cider, mead and other things given to us by Bacchus. There are many small, medium and micro enterprises active in the industry - and they can face many of the same taxation issues and opportunities as the industry giants.
A unique event
Tasmanian winemakers pioneered the production of high-quality, cool climate wine, and more recently our brewers, distillers and cider makers have been leading the movement back to craft and premium products. Tasmania provides the perfect place to host this event, which is destined to become a 'must attend' on The Tax Institute's calendar.
Our convention has been carefully designed to give you the best possible technical content, while at the same time providing ample opportunity to network with the presenters and your fellow delegates.
Our venue is the iconic Henry Jones Art Hotel, right in the heart of Hobart's Sullivan's Cove waterfront. The theme of the convention will be complemented by fine wining and dining and the best fare that Tasmania has to offer, and supplemented by a whisky education and tasting class, presented by renowned industry pioneer and raconteur Bill Lark of the Lark Distillery.
We hope that you can stay on after the official close of the convention. Why not join your fellow delegates and their partners at an informal dinner where you can wind down and plan your weekend visiting more of Tasmania's unique attractions.
Express your interest and reserve your place early, as the limited number of places available will sell out quickly!
I look forward to sharing my home town with you!
